An excellent exchange. We loved St Ives and Simon and Sarah's apartment was very comfortable with an exceptional elevated view over Porthmeor Beach. Both Simon and Sarah were great guests in our home and left it in excellent condition. We had a fabulous fortnight.

"Fantastic first visit to Cornwall "
Swap report from: Jimmy McGeachy (HE37747) on their swap to (HE42823)
Simon and Sarah's flat in St Ives was a wonderful base for our first ever Cornish holiday. It was very well equipped with very full and clear instructions about what was what (Neither of us are Star Wars fans so it took a few days for us to appreciate that the loo was themed along these lines.). They also gave us plenty of ideas about what to see and do.
Possibly the best thing about the flat and indeed the holiday was its proximity to the beach, and the wonderful views from the house. Folk would pay good money to watch the surfers and paddle boarders from the balcony. It’s a good place too, obviously for a paddle or a swim.
The house and St Ives is a great base for a holiday. We walked from there to Lelant where we enjoyed the first of several Cornish cream teas, though I do think the Devon way of cream on first makes more sense. We also enjoyed a wee boat trip to Seal Island from the town where we saw plenty of these lovely sea creatures. Our car had been left at home in Glasgow so an old friend who lives in the area gave us a tour in her car, stopping off at Pendeen lighthouse and Cape Cornwall. We also saw a rock formation called a Man's Head which looked more like a dog in our opinion. The Cornish coastline was stunning so a trip to St Michael's Mount, across the causeway on the southern coast, was also another highlight. The gardens there were beautiful. A trip to the Scillies is doable from Sarah and Simon’s house but we didn’t get around to it this time.
St Ives is an arty place and we enjoyed galleries there, large and small, including our host Sarah's beautiful paintings adorning the walls of the flat. Tate St Ives is a short walk along the seafront from Sarah and Simon's place and is well worth a visit, although not all of the pieces there, particularly the abstract stuff was quite up our street. The building itself however is very impressive and we liked the cafe too. In St Ives you are never short of good places to eat and drink. Loads to choose from just a stones throw from the household.
Highlights:
Watching the surfers
St Michael's mount
The buzz of St Ives

An excellent 3 week exchange. Simon and Sarah's apartment was small but very comfortable, with beautiful views over the headland and beach. Thanks for clearing plenty of space for our clothes! Great communications, and we appreciated the food and drinks left for us and the lift to the railway station with their friendly neighbour.
St Ives in Cornwall is an attractive tourist town with plenty of character with it's narrow cobbled streets and fisherman's cottages. We were lucky to be there in September for the arts and music festival which we enjoyed. There were plenty of cafes and shops close by so you wouldn't necessarily need a car unless you wanted to explore further afield. Parking is scarce and expensive.
Although the weather wasn't kind to us, we enjoyed the brilliant location for the coastal walks and beaches.
Simon and Sarah left our home in good condition.
We would definitely recommend Simon and Sarah as exchange partners. Many thanks!

It was one of our best home exchanges: not only because of the fantastic location of Sarah & Simon’s apartment — with a direct view of the ocean and beach through the large windows — but also because we really loved the coziness, quality, and amenities of the apartment. In addition, we felt very well taken care of thanks to the warm, friendly, and easygoing communication with Sarah & Simon during our exchange, which led to a friendship. We really appreciated finding a prepared meal and drinks in the fridge upon arrival for our simultaneous swap, which was very welcome after the long trip. The fact that we had nothing but good weather for the duration of our swap was the icing on the cake. — Upon our return, we found our own apartment in absolutely impeccable condition. No question about it: We’d love to swap with Sarah & Simon again anytime.
